I agree with gatorling. BUT, the taller guys who have a long reach tend to play the open table style. I looked up the heights of several world class players who appear short on video, and ALL of them were taller than I am. Covering the forehand from the BH corner is not easy, as you may get the ball on the table, but poor quality with turn around and bite you. I see Wang Liqin and Xu Xin and Ma Lin play on the corner, but of the 3 Ma Lin gets caught the most on wide forehands, I think its because he is not as long as the other 2. Wang Hao stands closer to the center and I suspect that if he tried to play from the corner people would mess him up pretty bad on the wide forehand. I am 5'7 and shorter than Wang Hao, and I have started playing closer to neutral as well, and it has made a huge difference in my efficiency and consistency as I do not have the reach to chase down a serve wide to my forehand and return it with decent quality.
