I know a player who is one of the greatest blockers with placement I know and he beats looping people above 2200 even though he can lose (rarely) 1800+ penhold hitters so he is always in the mid 2k.
I get games playing all round fast rallies and killing the ball when I can and when I very rarely win (it never happened in a tourney yet) he dismisses my "boring" game trying to play fast and soft with placement, avoiding the topspin that he loves so much to rely on. I just take it as an encouragement.
