Do this to both sides and you will have a blade with super strong neck.  Balsa is light,
so it will not add any appreciable weight.  Balsa feels soft as I like to press my thumb against it. The strength is in the lamination of extra wood layer (like a surfboard).  You can get balsa wood at any hobby shop.  You can probably use a good aliphatic wood glue instead of epoxy also.

Thanks pdotec - very nice suggestion. I have friend who is very good at modifying blades - I'll share all the ideas with him and see which one he prefers. I myself am very bad at wood working.
